Helpful Tips

Mulch Equivalency and Coverage:

1 yard covers approximately 100sq ft 3″ deep Calculate square feet divide by 100 for number of yards required 1 yard = 27 cubic feet = 14 bags @ 2 cubic feet each or 9 bags @ 3 cubic feet each

Stone Equivalency and Coverage:

1 yard stone or sand = 1.5 tons= 3000# 1 ton stone = 25 sq feet 6″ deep or 50 sq feet 3″ deep

Dyed Mulch Facts:

Dyed Mulch is made from all hardwood mulch using a water based dye. The dye is color fast when it is dry. When applying mulch, plan to apply so the mulch dries before rain or wait until after the rain as the top color will fade if not dry. Turning over mulch and allowing to dry will refresh the color. Dyed Mulch will hold color for most of the year.

Double vs Triple:

Mulch base material is called 1st grinds. Once thru the grinder is considered double shredded, one additional time is considered triple shredded. Triple is a finer consistency than double. This consistency changes depending on the moisture content of the base material. Drier material makes a finer consistency.

Max Delivery Capacities:
Compost/ Mushroom Soil = 12/14 yards
Top Soil = 6 yards
Garden Mix = 9 yards
Stone = 6 Tons
Mulch: Double/ Dyed/ chips = 20 yards
Triple = 15 yards
Split loads may be available
